Here are some other Block Island Favorites!

Hot Chocolate at…

Bess Eaton Coffee Shop 294 Great Island Road
Narragansett, RI www.BessEaton.com

Before I got on the Block Island Ferry in Point Judith I made sure to have a hot chocolate and donut from Bess Eaton, right next to the Ferry dock.  Really Chocolatey AND Hot! Perfect before the windy Ferry trip!

Rhode Island Clamcakes at…

Rebecca’s Seafood Takeout, 435 Water Street, Block Island, RI

Clamcakes are kind of like a donut – more like a Munchkin — made with dough and yes…clams, clam juice and lots of black pepper.  They are a Rhode Island specialty and Rebecca’s makes good ones — they also make a great hamburger!

Speaking of donuts… we had to go back to…

Payne’s Donuts, Payne’s Dock, Block Island, RI

See our review from last year here!

Payne’s is SO good we keep coming back every year.  They’re a great treat before a big day at the beach.  There are three flavors, Sugar, Cinnamon and Plain.  My favorite are the Cinnamon ones — try to get them while they’re fresh from the oven!

Have a Cupcake at…

Baked On The Block

The Block Island Farmer’s Market,  blockislandfarmersmarket.com

Every Wednesday and Saturday in the summer, Block Island has their Farmer’s Market. There’s lot’s of great things to eat, crafts and even some musicians.  I got to meet Sheri Maxman, who owns Baked On The Block and makes a great cupcake.  I had a vanilla frosted mini-cupcake – awesome!

Get Yak-ed on… by a Yak at…

Abram’s Animal Farm, 1 Spring Street   Like the farm on facebook!

Behind the Hotel Manisses 1661 Inn, there is a little farm that the owner of the hotel keeps.  It’s not like any other farm… because not only do they grow the vegetables for the Inn…they also have a collection of rare and exotic animals. You can feed the Llamas, Zedonks, Ostrich, Lemurs and Yaks!  But be careful… for Yak spit… it’s pretty gross.

Have Dinner at my favorite restaurant…

The Oar, 221 Jobs Hill Road  Block Island, RI Like The Oar On Facebook

Famous for it’s HUGE collection of oars that decorate the walls, ceiling and pretty much the whole place!  The oar has great food – especially their Sushi!  You can also play beanbags on the lawn while you wait for your table.  It’s really fun.

Buy something cool at…

East Of The River Nile Trading Company

http://eastoftherivernile.com/

One of the coolest stores on Block Island, they have stuff from ALL over the world.  Like t-shirts, crafts, jewelry, and stuff for your house.  The owner’s name is Ron and when he he’s not on the island he travels all over the world looking for interesting things. He is also really nice. I bought two awesome bracelets from Bali – one is all skulls!
